Earth-Spirit based Healing/Guidance Sessions/Medicine Rites

In partnership with various spirit helpers I work on behalf of people, animals, land and spaces, the dying as well as the dead, and for beings both seen and unseen. Typically I am first approached through my contact form where you indicate your area of interest. After initial contact I offer a complementary phone or Zoom session during which we can decide if Earth/Spirit tending work is currently appropriate and if so, how to move forward. Medicine rites and guidance sessions are done either in person--in my location or yours--or remotely by phone or Zoom meeting. Land and space sessions are usually done on site. The location for sessions is determined by both necessity as well as by guidance from the helping spirits, and currently by Covid-19 precautions as well.. Following are some examples of what healing/guidance sessions might address for people, animals, land and spaces, the dying and dead, and the spirit realm.

PEOPLE

I work with people seeking personal assistance whether it is physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, or energetic. It can be either chronic and low-key or acute and immediate. The concern could be about something you think is mostly a private issue or it might be one that involves some sort of relationship--to family, animals, work, creativity, love, death, your spirit or spirituality in general, the environment, purpose, health, etc. Many things you would like to change or better understand can be addressed through an earth/spirit tending process.. Due to the many different ways life is structured and depending on personal needs, I offer sessions in many different ways. Some will occur in an office or someone’s home and/or land, some will occur on my land, and for those who have the wherewithal to make the commitment of time and resources, I offer half-day and day-long immersion sessions where very primal aspects of your nature that have been forgotten can be reclaimed and integrated in ways very personal and unique to you. For more information on what might indicate you could benefit from these practices and what to expect during and after a session, go to FAQ

ANIMALS

Although it is not a big part of my work I am at times available to work on behalf of companion animal(s) and for rescue groups or other kinds of organizations that advocate on behalf of animals and need assistance for a specific animal or species, or for a situation affecting an animal or species. Listed below are some of the things that potentially can be addressed on behalf of an animal through this process.

  • Traumas of any kind, whether physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual or instinctual. These traumas can include but are not limited to experiences, circumstances such as surgeries, cancers, parasites, separation issues, abandonment, abuse and neglect, homelessness, starvation, etc.

  • Daily maintenance concerns such as proper diet, exercise, supplements, grooming although for easily treated animals this can best be served by a veterinarian

  • Relationship issues with other animals in the home, in the greater environment and with the people lived with. Qualified trainers will usually be the best first choice here.

  • Behavior problems that need clarification as to source and remedial guidance

  • Concerns about the animal's true purpose, i. e. what are they here to experience and how can they best do that?

  • Death and dying issues; for concerns over euthanasia vs. "natural" death; when and how to make a death decision; how to support a dying animal; what comes afterwards; grief process with animals, etc.

LAND AND SPACES

Living and working with the land by caring for the spirit and other than human constituents of the land is like pressing your lips to the skin of the earth and with every breath breathing out the most profound “I love you” possible and receiving a similar kiss in return. It resonates through the songlines* far past personal property borders.

For clarity, please understand that when I use the term “spirit”, what I experience I’m really referring to is a being with relational consciousness: not a fantasy, projection, archetype or aspect of one’s individual unconscious; but a being with agency who is part of the web of life with both discrete as well as collective expressions. And consciousness is the well-spring and animating force of the vast creative matrix of existence; for all that is formless as well as in form. The consciousness that enlivens a specific being is not necessarily discrete, singular or with defining edges but is usually layered, in flux, and able to focus/perceive/act in various ways, times and places simultaneously, if that is the intention and nature of a specific form of consciousness.

I work with various compassionate spirits and the person(s) involved with the land to first, resolve dynamics connected to various historical imprints and traumas that compromise land health or relationship with the resident people, check to note and address if there are any substantial energetic veils that would prevent the person or people from being able to come into relational contact with the land, as well as address any possible lingering dead whose consciousness hasn’t fully separated from their incarnation connected to the land.

If there are dead connected to the land who are not fully seated Ancestors they also receive whatever witnessing, alignment, healing and blessings are needed to continue their path. We check on the balance of the elements for possibly needed restoration and see what songlines*(elements of the original creative blueprint of the land) are dominant and if any need to be enlivened or new ones seeded(rare), and if any of the land’s meridian lines have been blocked or restricted by human development and other conflicting influences and will re-route when possible; we open communication with the non-human residents of the land, seen and unseen, to learn what their needs are and assess what the overall energetic field expression of the land presently is, what it wishes to be and is suited for and connect with any guardian/devic spirits for their collaboration and, with the person who lives with the land, do ceremony to open the land for relationship to a new resident or create more reciprocal harmony and well-being with existing residents, create connections and receive resourceful blessings for the non-human inhabitants as well as for the resident person(s) and their cooperative dreams for the land and their lives. The enlivening effects when humans do this with the land they live with run through the earth’s songlines far past property borders and can uplift surrounding areas in unexpected ways as well. There is great need for any positive, re-enlivening ripples we can create in our ponds of influence these days.

So I work with those interested in a specific area of land such as a home or personal stewardship area or other land where there is some sort of connection; or if interest involves a structure or space, such as a home or an office, and there is desire to know more about the needs of that land or space and/or relationship to it, and how to respond to bring the land or space and the inhabitants into balance. There are very many issues these days with how we interact with the Earth and consequently the land, its inhabitants and our dwellings are suffering in various ways. Considering that an originating, primary source for much difficulty in land areas in the United States comes from the current culture being founded on stolen land whose people experienced so much diverse and still on-going trauma, and whose wealth was further expanded by people stolen from their own lands, some specifics of what might be encountered in addressing the needs of land and space are:

  • Land that has seen disaster/tragedy and may still carry lingering energetic effects

  • Land that has been neglected/abused/degraded

  • Regions where there have been battles with great loss of life and land destruction. War/battle/genocide destroy the physical bodies of not only people but of the rest of the natural world and also leave imprints of fear, hostility, desperation, confusion, hopelessness, starvation, abandonment, exhaustion, enslavement, theft and the other Time Spirits that lead to or are a consequence of war.

  • Mining, logging, toxic dumping, commercial and residential development and industrial farming are other ways the land experiences trauma

  • Patterns of human abuse, whether it be enslavement, species harm/eradication, repetitive personal domestic abuse, over-crowding and excessive extractive practices to provide resources which renders life difficult for earth beings,

  • Homes and other structures that carry lingering residue from previous inhabitants

  • Areas where original inhabitants have been murdered/displaced

  • Places of codified torture/punishment, as well as neglect and/or abuse of burial sites and other sacred sites.

  • Land being considered for a creative endeavor such as building a home, creating a business, restoring or creating an eco-system, growing food, etc. in order to discover the suitability of the land for the project and what the needs of the land and other inhabitants are.

  • Any of the above situations where there is a presence of the new or old dead remaining attached to the space or land.

THE DYING and THE DEAD (People and animals, Nature beings)

I work to assist those who are dying and/or those connected to someone who is dying and you and/or they wish for the most conscious, beautiful and peaceful death; and this includes ways to move gracefully with grief. I also can work with concerns about someone who has already died and the question as to whether that death has been completed in the best possible way, and if not, for bringing peace and resolution. In addition, when working with individuals or families in healing sessions I check to see if there are any unresolved dead that are ready to fully transition and will deathwalk with them; or deathwalk with those who are attached to areas of land. I also assist when areas of land or beings of a specific area of land are dying or dead. ( Ex: a clear-cut forest with decimated trees and those dependent on the trees; a polluted stream with dead fish and other inhabitants, etc.)

THE SPIRIT REALM

I work with many kinds of spirit energies and can assist those who have interest in and/or sensitivity to these energies, whether they be to people, land spirits, gods and goddesses, animal helpers, tutelary deities, elementals, cosmic forces, the hidden kingdom, or to presences that have no corresponding forms/names that you know of. I can help to address what this kind of sensitivity and interest might portend, ways of exploring interests that are protected and effective as well as what relationship to these energies might be about.

And to take in more fully what I feel is going on and what is actually needed, if you care to, please read this writing by Jason Hine,(FB, June 23, 2022) who puts language to what I find difficult to address in words, but which I find some resonance with:

“To restore ecosystems it can be helpful to know ecosystems are not dead matter but more-than-human people. To restore cultures it can be helpful to keep in mind cultures are seeded out of the local biosphere, in a sense they are married to this vast living being.

To support or heal human beings it can be helpful to know humans are not just individuals, but assemblages of individuals, whose bodies and psyches are entangled with their lands, and the lands of their ancestors.

To restore culture and ecosystems, it's not just about being able to summon spirits like a magician, although that may well be useful, but perhaps understand that spirits are really holobionts, collective organisms that arise from interconnection patterns in ecosystems.

It is not just a case of researching every aspect of a mythbeing's folklore, although that may be very useful and worthy, but to viscerally relate to the mythbeings as embodied emergent patterns in our ecosystem, which humans are a tiny part of.

It's not just a case of doing embodied healing in a room, without finding secure attachment and nervous system regulating with elders, community and with an assemblage of the microorganisms animals, plants and myth beings of the ecosystem.

Individualist healing can lead to being more happy and fulfilled, but only up to the point where mass human die-back happens due to climate change and resource depletion, and nature, who is reality itself, collapses all around .

It's not just a case either of doing embodiment practices on the land, without actually feeding the mythbeings which are the relationship patterns of weather systems, water courses, plants and animals.

It's not enough even to feed the myth beings without then subsequently using this knowledge to take practical posthuman action to reforest the nearby hills, plant seeds and restore interanimistic village culture, including of course in cities too.

"Spirits" as holobionts may emerge from the deep pattern of intraconnection of beings in an ecosystem; they are made up of the intra-relationship patterns of the all the tamarisk trees, echnioderms, phytoplankton, blue fin tuna, hedgehogs, granite mountains, headwaters and the millions of beings in the ecosystem, that travel into humans across the phenomenological gap through our sense perceptions, interoception, propriorception, vestibular sense and all our many other senses. These holobionts know the way to restore and replenish the land and culture.

Every being has a microcopically detailed origin story and living mythos sentience; every rock feature, tree, plant, animal moves through our senses into and through our bodies and into multiple other bodies.

Rituals and ecosystemic cultures are perhaps in a sense "holobiontic comprehensions"; embodied, enearthed sympioetic understandings of the patterns of the deified land.

Why is this important? This is how culture operated for humans for about two hundred and fifty thousand years and it is still hidden as a kind of refugee seed inside everyone; the way to forest garden the land, restore watercourses, create methods of council and initiation comes from one's relationship to the larger emergent beings one is a part of.

For some folks, their earthbased nature may be a refugee seed inside them, for some folks hidden for two hundred or five thousand or even ten thousand years.

And before it sprouts folks try to keep it vaguely safe but unsprouted with individualist spirituality or therapy, but perhaps it can only really be watered by community and the earth's mythbeings. When it is so watered, sprouts as community collaboration and abundant inter-animistic villages.

And now it seems, if life on earth is to survive at all, humans living in industrialized cultures are called again to gather in solidarity networks, to regenerate the land, to dress in the most exquisite raiments and garden in the most beautiful way as a ritual act of marriage between human, rock, animal, mythbeing and plant

It is not possible to command the gods, or use them for one's personal development or embodiment practice, as folks are PART OF the gods. We are not here to direct the divine with one's individualistic will but to flexibly collaborate, co-create and merge with myth beings in the land. We are not here to take from the myth beings in the land but to give to them, to pay back a debt to them, including feeding them with one's life purpose and one's death, which are the same thing.

Perhaps humans are here to feed the mythbeings with delicious creative language, rich generously long rituals and with physically existing ecosystemic, community and cultural restoration in the land and streets, they are an endiosymbiotic organ in the goddess's ecosystemic collective body.

And it is in relationship with these holobiontic beings, that may have a slim chance to seed a better day for future generations in the form of humans and myth beings assemblages acting intergenerationally and sympoietically to create abundant interanimistic forest gardening abundant village cultures.”

I have practiced in the healing arts myself for over 30 years, have experienced a lot...so I am not easily impressed. I came to Damaris in great grief and pain after the death of my very close and beloved brother. She was so loving, patient and real. Truly it is rare to find someone deep in themselves to the point that they can focus solely on another and bring spirit into presence for true divine healing. My body reorganized for over a week and I felt very new at the end of it all. I was and am amazed at Damaris’ level of training and selflessness. She is a gift to our world—from the truth of my being.
