CONSCIOUS DYING

Also known as Psychopomp or Death Walking, this is a way a practitioner can help those who are dying move fully through their transition in a tender, aware and complete way so that what follows can be greeted with an open curiosity. This can also be extremely helpful when it’s extended to the family and friends of one who is dying. To do so can help the bonds of love be fully recognized and expressed in such a way that the impact of death can be experienced with a sense of naturalness, acceptance, peace and celebration while fully honoring the grief of loss.

Death is an extraordinary rite of passage that we all share, and such a mysterious part of our lives. No one can fully, honestly say just what it is that happens. However, there are many intimations from both personal as well as collective experiences over the course of humanity that lead many of us to approach death as a transition with somewhat identifiable aspects. The most obvious is the death of the body at which time the soul either immediately or gradually becomes separate. Another aspect is when the disembodied soul connects with its Source. This normally happens easily and without need for intervention. However, there are various conditions wherein the soul may not fully complete the transition to Source easily---as in the case of unexpected or traumatic death or leaving with unfinished business. Some of these souls seek assistance, either by coming directly to someone who can perceive the situation and help or by stimulating a family member or other loved one in some way to ask for this help. Others remain diminished in the unseen aspect of this world and due to our poor understanding of and relationship with death, there are many of these now, and these frustrated, unloved energies create disharmony in the land of the living. When any of these states come to the attention of someone skilled in Earth/Spirit tending, we work with the Helping Spirits to acknowledge the various needs of the dead as well as help them gently continue their journey in a loving and complete way.
